While The Song of the Harpy Eagle is designed to connect with the curriculum,
the songs of the animals also highlight a number of important concepts that
will help students succeed extracurricularly, too. Discuss with students how
the 'wisdom' of the animals' songs is relevant to their everyday
life. To turn the discussion into a project, have students make posters or
drawings, encapsulating the central message of each animal's song and
depicting relevant images from the rain forest and their own lives.
