The Classroom Package: Curriculum Connection

Animal Riddles
After researching the animals mentioned in Part 1 of the poem, have students create animal riddles, one liners that contain playful clues about the chosen animal, that other students can guess. Have students illustrate an answer page they can display after classmates have guessed.  (For example: "I'm louder than a lion and shaggy as a bear.  Howler monkey."  "Suctions cups (toes), saucers (eyes) and a very flexible fork (tongue) help me to dine nightly on buzzing delights. Tree frog.") If students can't guess right away, have them ask a few clarifying questions until they get the answer.
