Inuit Games

Napaataq (or napartaq) is a traditional game that tests one's harpooning skill. You need a flat board and a napaataq (a four to six inch piece of wood with a nail embedded in it so the sharp part of the nail sticks out of one end). The object is to make the nail stick in the board so the napaataq stands up. But the tricky part is, you have to release the napaataq in different ways, for example palm up, palm down, balancing it on a fingernail, balancing it on an elbow, etc. After successfully sticking the napaataq in the board from a sequence of release points, the player completes the sequence backwards. The first person back to the first release point wins.  (Below, Andre stuck the napaataq in the board after rolling it off the back of his hand. It takes a lot of talent!)
