Safari! Animal #4 - I'm scouring the plain - for game: the hyena.

Fisi in Swahili means hyena. In traditional East African stories, the hyena is the symbol of greed, gluttony and shiftlessness even though, in real life, when it does hunt, it works hard for its prey and usually shares its kill with the pack. Hyenas are not fast enough to ambush, so they rely on endurance and teamwork when they hunt, often chasing their quarry for miles to the point of exhaustion, before surrounding it, pouncing on it and devouring it. Still, besides hunting, hyenas do a lot of scavenging and thieving - which might explain their less than honorable reputation.
