MISSION

INTERACT WITH K-12 CLASSES FROM AROUND THE WORLD!

OneWorld Classrooms -- making a difference in your classroom and in schools around the world!

MORE ABOUT OUR PHILOSOPHY

OneWorld Classrooms is a groundbreaking model of education that uses the arts and the Internet to build cross-cultural understanding and community by directly linking K-12 classrooms with partner classes in regions of the world they are studying. Connecting to all areas of the curriculum and engaging schools in remote corners of the world, it addresses a set of needs on the opposite sides of the digital divide, creating a dynamic learning experience for students and teachers on both sides.

ONEWORLD CLASSROOMS IS ...

  • Kids to Kids -- We believe a powerful learning connection is forged when students from different regions of the world interact with each other, especially when that connection is reinforced by curriculum based classroom experiences.

  • Learning Through Connection -- By directly interacting with their foreign peers, students take a much more personal and meaningful approach to learning about the world beyond their own experience.

  • Self-empowering -- By sharing who they are with peers, students also begin to look inward. Self-knowledge combined with meaningful connections with others creates positive self-esteem, a heightened understanding and appreciation of one's own place in the world and a capacity to respect others.

  • Learning Through Art -- In a world of many tongues, art is a universal means of communication which allows children of different regions and different cultures to interact beyond the barriers of language.

  • Learning Through Technology -- Technology is a powerful educational tool that can open a classroom to the world and significantly expand the horizons of students.

  • Teaching Tolerance -- In recognizing the similarities that make us human and the differences that make us unique, children literally make their world a more peaceful and harmonious place to live.
